Our client is a global, research-driven pharmaceutical company focusing on the development of prescription-only-medicines, and they are a global market-leader within their therapeutic area. The company headquarter is in Greater Copenhagen, Denmark with subsidiaries, production facilities and distributors worldwide.
 
THE POSITION
Global Medical Affairs consists of a team of 10 medical affairs experts responsible for ensuring a sound medico-clinical basis for clinical positioning and for medical communication, as well as for driving medical education and giving medical input to marketing and reimbursement strategies. Global Medical Affairs is part of Global Marketing. Key stakeholders include Marketing, Clinical Development, Research, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance and the affiliates.

The Senior Global Medical Affairs Manager position is an expansion to the current organization and is – in addition to the above tasks of the team – expected to execute medical affairs strategy for the market of China and ensure cross-functional alignment and organizational support for the medical affairs program. The position will be responsible for local medical launch readiness activities for 2-3 brands among other tasks. Moreover, the position will act as a disease expert and be responsible for providing medical affairs insight to tour clients diagnostic portfolio with a special focus towards the market in China and in close collaboration with the local affiliate and partners in China.
 
POSITION PROFILE
Position title: Senior Global Medical Affairs Manager.
   
Reporting line: Medical Director, Global Medical Affairs.
   
Location: Greater Copenhagen (HQ), Paris, Hamburg, Madrid.
   
Traveling: Limited.
   
Responsibilities & Tasks:
  • Planning, driving, and coordinating the Medical Launch Plan on the Chinese market.
  • Ensuring cross-functional alignment and organizational support for the medical affairs program.
  • Acting as disease expert in local markets and ALK.
  • Driving a key role in the strengthening of the Chinese platform and strategies of ALK across local medical launch readiness activities for 2-3 brands.
  • Training internal staff, addressing external questions, and providing informational services to health care providers.
  • Obtaining, interpreting, and applying guidance from medical and scientific experts to the allergy clinical development pipeline.
  • Managing Scientific advisory board activities.
  • Acting as liaison to health care professionals and professional organizations, and clinical guidelines advocacy groups.
  • Collaborating with regulatory colleagues and legal consultants to ensure that all written documents are accurate and adhere to the guidelines mandated by regulators.
  • Providing medical affairs insight to the diagnostic portfolio.
  • Providing clarity on complex medical/scientific enquiries from the Chinese market.
  • Developing, and/or reviewing and approving medical communications to external stakeholders in accordance with international guidelines.
  • Partnering on a strategic level with interdisciplinary project teams.
 
  • Establishing a strong Medical Affairs support structure for the Chinese market.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective dialogues with key opinion leaders in China.
  • Effective expert management of external and internal stakeholder relations.
  • Delivering timely and high-quality medical input.
  • Successfully contributing to driving a high-performance culture – based on a proactive and pragmatic mindset that is focused on adding value in the collaboration with key stakeholders.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
Educational background: MD or M.Sc. -level education within Human Biology, Biomedical Engineering or related fields.
   
Language: English – fluent (verbally and written).
Preferably fluency in Chinese (verbally and written).
   
Ideal experience:
  • Regional and/or global medical affairs experience.
  • Well-versed in running high-profile strategic projects.
  • Good knowledge of local Chinese regulatory environment including key regulatory agencies, approval processes and safety reporting Communication skills in both Chinese and English
  • Excellent Medical Affairs competencies.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing medical strategies and launch plans.
  • Experience in driving effective Key Opinion Leader engagement.
  • Digital knowledge to a certain degree. Preferably experience with HCP platforms etc.
  • Experience in allergy, respiratory or other immunological disease areas is valued, though not required
  • Well-versed in balancing commercial and medical needs.
  • Documented experience in effectively driving external stakeholder engagement and relationships in China or with Chinese affiliates.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate scientific, competitive and business-related information critically and objectively.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of drug development and commercialization processes, including understanding outcomes research and payer access issues.
